There’s something timeless about family photos in the fall here in New England. On a crisp November afternoon in Hudson, New Hampshire, I met C and C and their two daughters at one of my favorite local parks — a place with winding paths, beautiful trees, and scenery that shines in every season. We chased the last bit of golden sunshine as it filtered through the branches, the light soft and fleeting as the days grew shorter.
This season was especially sweet for their family, as they welcomed their newest daughter this year. Photographing them together — watching the older sister proudly sing “5 Little Monkeys” while everyone laughed along — was such a tender reminder of how quickly these fleeting stages pass. It’s little glimpses like these, woven into the portraits, that make a session feel like a story preserved.
I love sessions at this Hudson park because it invites families to simply enjoy the moment. The winding paths give children space to wander, while the trees create the kind of backdrop that feels warm and nostalgic — the perfect setting to document both posed portraits and the candid in-between moments.
If you’re hoping to capture your family in this season of life, I’d love to create photographs that feel true to you and your story. You can reach out through my contact page to start planning your own family photography session in Southern New Hampshire.
As the year slows down and the trees let go of their last leaves, November always reminds me how quickly seasons change — both in nature and in life. Family photos are a way of holding onto these in-between days, so years from now you can step back into them and remember the light, the laughter, and the love you carried in this season.
